somerset grocer: ashburton

Starting from an empty ground floor corner tenancy of the Somerset Building in Ashburton, the brief was to develop a combined café, delicatessen and wine bar. There were one or two prerequisites including that the café and wine bar could be operated separately when required and that the wide range of produce gets maximum coverage in the display cabinets.

With the extensive use of ply and steel, the end result gives a clean almost minimal appearance while achieving the end result. Chalk boards in the café and on the delicatessen display stands together with splashes of red on the chairs and walls are then used to complete the overall effect
